The Granville Exempted Village School District (GEVSD) is working very hard to improve the academic experience for our "GAP" learners, kids struggling within traditional learning environments.
  • The current focus of this administration is early literacy. The 2016-17 school year has seen the implementation of 'Fundations'; a structured, multi sensory program based on the Wilson Reading System. Fundations is research based, with it's roots in Orten-Gillingham interventions. This will better provide our young readers a "balanced literacy system" of learning, with increased focus on phonemic awareness, etc. Currently it is being utilized in all kindergarten, first grade and reading intervention (tier 1 and 2) classrooms. As the district builds competency in this program, over the next 2-3 years, teachers in second and third grade will also be trained and begin to exercise this practice.
  • To help parents better understand ,and engage in, the RTI process, Student Services has assembled a pamphlet. This resource describes various levels of intervention, defines the role of the parent, identifies potential team members, and describes the overall process. For most parents, this process can be overwhelming and confusing, arming ourselves with knowledge is the first step in advocating for our children.
